Barbour Jacket Winter Trend

Up until recently waxed jackets were only popular with farmers and people of the British countryside, over the last year they have somehow made their way into the towns and are becoming a popular trend in men’s fashion. Barbour is the major brand behind this waxed style jacket and in a previous post we talked about how the quilted barbour jacket also made the same transition from country side to town fashion. I was curious how this fashion trend originated and found it wasn’t actually part of Barbour rebranding themselves to target a younger and trendier market, it was, as with many things in fashion, mainly down to celebrity influence.

Celebrities such as Alex Turner and Lilly Allen sparked the trend by wearing Barbour jackets whilst performing at festivals, the trend grew in popularity in both men’s and women’s fashion quite rapidly. Once Barbour realised their clothing was becoming fashionable, they didn’t sit back and watch, they started to think of ways they could adapt their clothing ranges to fit in with modern fashion trends but still maintain that traditional british heritage style. When we started Men’s Fashion Bible one of the editors posted an article on boat shoes, looking back at the post, it looks at a few different styles and the influence Sperry and Sebego have on the boat shoe trend. Many popular trends change and adapt and we have seen the boat shoe break into the plimsoll fad with canvas style boat shoes. I was interested in how else the boat shoe might be modified and how traditional leading brands like Sperry could bring a breath of fresh air to their new collections.

Looking at the 2010 Sperry range it seems as though they havn’t had to make major modifications to create a refreshing collection, with new materials and new colours the Spring/Summer 2010 Sperry Topsider range looks very promising. I am quite confident that the Sperry Topsider will keep the boat shoe trend alive well into summer of months of next year.

In a Response to the lack of fashionable clothing for the Oasis frontman, Liam Gallagher has announced the launch of his new clothing range for men called ‘Pretty Green‘.
