In the UK as most of you may know, considering you are reading this because you are into fashion, the skinny jean is a wardrobe essential. Whether you’ve got an indie style or you consider yourself a lad about town. If you’re reading this because you’re thinking of investing a pair, i highly recommend it. The only jeans i own are all slim or skinny jeans, i couldn’t think of stepping outside in a pair of bootcut or flared jean in my life again! In my city, the skinny jean is considered the typical pair of jeans for the ‘Fashionable’ and ‘Trend setting’ minds. Don’t be fooled! though the jeans may be getting easier to wear, the look isn’t easy to pull off. The trick is to wear skinny jeans with slim-fitting shirts and pointy-toed dress shoes or dressy boots. Any squarish, loose or, worse still, boxy-fit sweater or shirt can make a man’s proportions look out of whack and his legs way too skinny. Today i’m going to put together a few outfits, ranging from Smart to Casual.

Smart Look

This look is more for when were coming into Autumn/winter but can still very much be pulled off at the moment. Starting with the left outfit, a very smart look. The blazer is From All Saints, Black Skinny Jeans are from Topman, and The Bass tassle loafers are from ASOS The Online Fashion Store. Underneath the blazer a good look would be a smart solid colour shirt or a crisp white Deep V-neck.

The Right outfit, Still smart but a little more casual. The Military Peacoat is fromTopman, Grey skinny cords are also from Topman, Winkle Picker Boots are Tuesday Night Band Practice from ASOS The Online Fashion Store. a nice touch with this outfit would be a navy and white striped nautical style t-shirt and a thin scarf.

Casual Look

The Left Outfit, which has been quite popular recently is the denim shirt, sometimes wore open with a very large white scoop neck basically revealing your chest. The Denim shirt is from All Saints, The Black Skinny Pipe-fit jeans are also from All Saints, and at a reasonable £55 it’s definetly worth buying two pairs and going to the tailor to get one cut off and rolled to just below the knee as it’s a great look, The Sebago Spinnaker Dockside Shoes are availiable from ASOS The Online Fashion Store.

The Right out fit is a very good look at the moment, Layered with a smart navy cardigan and maybe a white skinny belt. The Jeans also look very fashionable rolled up a few turns revealing the ankle. At first glance, the graphic tee seems almost self-explanatory—throw it on over some jeans, slip on your trusted Converse and your off on your way, alot of celebritys  demonstrate this laid back high end of summer look.

Even though a graphic tee is typically associated with easygoing outfits, with a little creativity you can turn the outfit into a fashion-forward look. When we started Men’s Fashion Bible one of the editors posted an article on boat shoes, looking back at the post, it looks at a few different styles and the influence Sperry and Sebego have on the boat shoe trend. Many popular trends change and adapt and we have seen the boat shoe break into the plimsoll fad with canvas style boat shoes. I was interested in how else the boat shoe might be modified and how traditional leading brands like Sperry could bring a breath of fresh air to their new collections.

Looking at the 2010 Sperry range it seems as though they havn’t had to make major modifications to create a refreshing collection, with new materials and new colours the Spring/Summer 2010 Sperry Topsider range looks very promising. I am quite confident that the Sperry Topsider will keep the boat shoe trend alive well into summer of months of next year.

Boat shoes are by far a new trend but I feel more and more companies are showcasing them in their collections and more and more people feel comfortable wearing them as an everyday shoe. There are tons of ways to wear boat shoes, tie them and dress them up or down.

“Boat shoes, also known also as deck shoes or topsiders, are typically leather with rubber soles designed for use on a boat. A siping pattern is cut into the soles to provide grip on a wet deck; the leather construction, along with application of oil, is designed to repel water.

Modern boat shoes were invented in 1935 by Paul Sperry after noticing his dog’s ability to run easily over ice or snow. Using a knife, he cut siping into his shoes’ soles, inspiring a shoe perfect for boating. Sebago and Sperry are notable modern manufacturers of boat shoes.

Boat shoes are used by sailors, as the name suggests; however, since the ’80s and possibly before, they have become fashionable footwear in America.”

Even if the only deck you’ll be on this summer is in the back of your friends house, a nice pair of boat shoes should find their way into your wardrobe sooner than later. If you’ve been paying attention, you’d have noticed a bunch of designers dropping their own renditions of the classic silhouette that up until a couple years ago was known solely as the footwear of the prep set.

This style of shoe has followed on with the Nautical trend, they work great with a pair of short shorts or slim/skinny jeans rolled up about 3 turns, preferably without socks!

this is probably my favourite look for the season.
