When you get a bit of time, grab some of your old jeans and a pair of scissors and have a go at cutting yourself some denim shorts. Denim shorts are always fashionable in the summer if they are worn properly and with the right gear, they can also be cheap if you make your own by recycling some of your out dated jeans.

With a big trend being short shorts this summer, thats exactly what you want to go for when making your own pair of denim shorts, remember to leave some room for a couple of turn ups though. Even if your old jeans you dig out seem a bit loose round the legs and crotch thats OK because with a minimal bit of sewing skill you can pinch in the seems at the bottom of the shorts and sew the edges together, giving you that carrot fit style.

Don’t worry too much about the colours of the jeans as you will probably find a use for any colour of denim shorts. Denim shorts work well with graphic t’s and vests, striped t’s, cardigans, espadrilles, boat shoes, tasseled shoes, canvas trainers, the list goes on. Have a look at a couple of looks I gathered below.

Not exactly a new trend in Men’s Fashion but stripes can bring something to a range of different looks. Although striped t-shirts seem to grow in popularity in the summer striped tops can be worn all year round. In this post I just wanted to have a look at a couple of possible outfits you can put together that include stripes, some aimed at the summer months and some you can put to use whilst it’s still cold out and you need to layer up.

Depending on what sort of look you are going for you might want to think about stripe colours and t-shirt style. stripes always seem to work well with scoop neck t-shirts, polos and vests, popular colours combos include navy and white, black and white, black and red, grey and white. The images below show striped t-shirts mixing well with the denim trend, both denim jackets and denim shirts. Maybe a bit much for the summer but whilst the spring lasts this could be a good look.

The watch is an essential accessory when it comes to fashion. Whether it’s a casual joggers day or a swazzed up night on the town, a good looking watch always gives the impression of wealth and is a great highlight to an outfit.
Most watches are reasonably priced and range from around £50-£400, obviously the latter being alot more attractive.
But at the start of last year The ToyWatch came about, basically making imitations of Rolex, Chanel and other high priced watches so from a distance it looked as if you were a high flyer. But even still the watches were great quality up close just without the brand name.

This is a great look to look abit more than casual without going all out, because we all know theres always one person thats out in his best shirt and trousers!

When it comes to Autumn and Winter fashion, you can never go wrong with a bit of tweed. This year especially, with popular fashion trends involving that British heritage look and grand father style. Tweed will add a slightly sophisticated look to any outfit, it is also a quality fabric that will last more than one season and not to forget it will keep you warm as the days get colder. There is a lot of potential in tweed based clothing to generate some stylish looks.

A tweed blazer or jacket really brings out the full potential of the material and then you can top it off with a tweed hat, bow tie or scarf. It has been popular this season with many designers so there is a big selection of tweed based clothing items for you to pick from to suit your individual style and taste. Tweed does go well with trousers or chino’s but personally i prefer to keep it a bit more casual and go with jeans, possible footwear ideas to go with tweed could be a pair of brown brogues or tasseled loafers, canvas trainers also work well, maybe even tweed trainers. Winter Fashion Trend – Scarves

Often understated, winter scarves are the most flattering winter accessory for men. In addition to ability to make you look trendy, winter scarves are there, let’s not forget, for funcion too. Winter scarves will save you the undesirable feeling of cold breeze crawling down your neck and cut away any chance of having snow sliding in your shirt. With that said, don’t wear winter scarves only when it’s freezing outside. Winter scarves can successfully be worn even in early autumn as an accessory that will surely give you a sense of individuality. If you want to add some color to your look, a scarf is a good way to do it. Retro Fashion with Hi-Top Pumps

Hi-tops are becoming a fashionable choice of footwear these days, they give a retro feel, work great with the skinny jeans trend and add a bit of energy to any casual outfit. You can keep them simple, with classic styles and basic colours or if you prefer to make a statement with your outfits you can go with a funked up pair and possibly colour match to your favourite hat, cap or t-shirt. With the range of hi-tops available you shouldn’t have a problem trying to find a pair to suit your particular taste and style, you get to pick from all the classic Nike, Adidas and Puma ranges and new ranges from modern designers producing old school footwear to keep up with the trend.

I prefer wearing Hi-Top trainers with either skinny jeans, or loose jeans with a skinny ankle. Then maybe a sweater, like the ones featured in yesterdays post, or If I’m not going anywhere special they work well with a hoodie. Another look I haven’t tried pulling off yet is hi-tops with a blazer and t-shirt, I’ve seen a few people working this look and it’s a good smart / casual mix. Hi-tops are a good excuse to move away from canvas styled trainers, which are starting to get a bit boring, although you can get some decent canvas hi-tops the leather ones are going to be more chunky and contribute a bit more to an outfit, plus you will get a bit more wear out of them.

Since the 80′s Mens Sweatshirts have always been fashionable with anything you wear, either a lazy day or a casual day shopping. I think this is the season where sweatshirts will really reach their peak with alot of highstreet chains like Topman and Asos bringing out some interesting and unique designs , along with some top designers like Pharrell Williams’ Billionaire Boys Club & Ice Cream range, Dsquared and the Online clothing shop Oki-Ni.

These Sweatshirts are all great quality, look great with a pair of baggy jeans and a pair of hi-top trainers.Hangover? Listed in the top 10 most stylish men of America, Justin Timberlake is no doubt an inspirational fashion icon, he has quite a definitive style and is well known for his hats, blazers and waist coats. If he’s not setting trends himself he will always be rockin’ new trends just before they crest. He likes to mix smart with casual, wearing shirts and skinny ties with a pair of pumps, or a waist coat with a t-shirt. Below are some pictures of what he’s been wearing in the last few months.

I also put together a look book at the bottom of the page so you can get the J.T look of 2009.

From looking through the above pictures it is clear Justin is into ripped loose fit jeans at the moment, moving away from the skinny jeans trend thats currently dominating in mens fashion. The rip and torn style jean is something that I have noticed coming back into fashion, appearing in some of this seasons mens designer collections and also making it’s way into high street shops such as Topman where they offer a range of different styles of torn and rugged jeans. I am liking some of these ripped jeans especially with dirty coloured denim, however I don’t think I’m ready to leave skinny and slim behind to step across to loose or even regular fit jeans.

You can also see that J.T is still into his blazers, hats and waist coats which is always a good look for him, the top image with him wearing the denim jacket, black trilby and clear lens Wayfarer style clear glasses is a bit of a new look for J.T, I’ve seen him in some other recent pictures pulling off the clear lens glasses, indicating height be into the geek chic fashion trend we posted about last week.

The denim shirt he’s seen wearing open, rolled up sleeves with a t-shirt underneath, has also been a great look throughout the summer and Justin is seen wearing it well, personally I think it’s become a bit too popular now, however if you’re interested in purchasing a denim shirt, All saints have a good selection of well fitted denim shirts available in varied styles and colours or if you wanted to go for a cheaper option, Topman also have a wide range of denim shirts at around £30 a piece, however I find you don’t get the slim tailored fit you get with the All Saints shirts.
